Possible progression
Depending on subjects and later results, learners may explore health sciences, physical sciences, computing, agriculture, engineering, education and other routes. No secondary programme guarantees entry to a profession; tertiary institutions set their own prerequisites and competition levels.
A readiness conversation
Ask whether the learner is willing to practise mathematics regularly, complete laboratory work carefully and seek help early. If the attraction is only the status associated with the programme, compare other pathways that may better fit the learner’s abilities and goals.
